I was very fortunate and had amazing parents Family trip to moon shirt. We didn’t have a lot of money, but my mom and dad did something that was worth so much more than money; they spent time with us. We were lucky enough to have friends of the family that had property outside of Philadelphia where we could go every summer and get out of the city. It was crude camping with no running water and no electricity for the first few years but we did a lot of day tripping while we were out there. Valley Forge, Crystal Cave, French Creek, auctions, flea markets, Zern’s Farmers Market, Amish Country, Dutch Wonderland, Dorney Park and so on. I didn’t realize until I was older how truly lucky I was to have the experiences I did in those Summers of my childhood. My mom never graduated from high school but she was highly intelligent and took us to the Library every other week and made sure we took out two or three books to read in those two weeks.

She taught us all kinds of handy household skills like cooking and sewing and minor repairs, she was an amazing lady. My dad (who was actually my stepfather that my Mom married when I was about 2 years old) had a great sense of humor, loved music, and taking us kids out to places like carnivals or the movies or other things like that. I was very blessed to have been raised by two hardworking, loving, attentive, amazing parents.
